A Phone Call With Charles Manson

For more than 20 years, Charles Manson rarely communicated with anyone from the outside world. Leah Shore’s psychedelic animation brings to life never-before-heard phone conversations between Canadian author Marlin Marynick and Manson himself. Shore’s film is a little freaky, her frenetic illustrations perfectly capture the killer’s scattered and bizarre musings and the level to which prison has affected his mental state. For five minutes, Shore illuminates the mind of the murderous cult leader, and that is rare, remarkable, and definitely discomforting.

More of Shore’s work can be found on her website, and her most recent films are Hallway and I Love You So Much. She would like to thank her crew for their help and support.¬†For comments or questions, you can email her.
