George Takei on Fighting Hate With Humor

When the Star Trek star was five years old, he was sent with his family to live in a WWII-era internment camp for American people of Japanese descent. This incident prompted him into a lifetime of activism as a self-proclaimed “believer in and fighter for the equality and dignity of all human beings.” With a Facebook page that speaks to over 9 million fans, Takei often uses social media to spread his message, often with his memetic sense of humor. In this episode of If Our Bodies Could Talk, senior editor James Hamblin speaks with George Takei about activism.
