Much has been written about Hyperloop, the ultra-high-speed pneumatic transport concept first introduced by Elon Musk back in 2013. Less is known about the actual development work currently being done inside Hyperloop Technologies’ Southern California lab. In this second episode of Van Alen Sessions, presented by Van Alen Institute with The Atlantic and CityLab, viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at the actual prototyping being done on Hyperloop, a project that sits squarely at the intersection of debates surrounding private versus public investment in infrastructure.
Van Alen Sessions is presented by Van Alen Institute with The Atlantic and CityLab. Season One, “Tunnel Vision,” is directed and produced by Kelly Loudenberg. The series is made possible with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, AkzoNobel, Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
