Visiting Day: The Unrelenting Stress of Family Prison Visits

Three times a month, Daisy Gomez and her young daughter drive three hours to visit her husband, Max, who is serving a 15-year prison sentence at a federal penitentiary. This short film by Jennifer Maytorena Taylor, Visiting Day, is a snapshot of the personal and financial tolls that incarceration takes on prisoners’ loved ones. It is inspired by the hour-long documentary, Daisy and Max, which is available through November on Al Jazeera America.
